And the Bear who went Shopping...

     The one everyone still talks about here is the bear who went shopping..  A few years ago, some time during the night, he went into the Park and Shop Supermarket on West State Street in Olean, which is usually a pretty busy street. He somehow got the glass sliding doors to open for him, or perhaps someone had forgotten to lock them.  I can't find a record of what he actually bought - or rather lifted - and the story turns a bit hazy after this, depending on whom you talk to. But apparently he ended up half way up a lamp-post and hotly pursued by Law Enforcement, exited town. That one actually made the local paper.
